I always LOVED the idea of a Collector's Item. Something limited edition. Extra cool. That's one reason I set aside about 20 copies of Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers 16 years ago. So that some day in the future I could sell them and call them a "Collector's Item".

Here we are and my crappy memory wasn't even sure that's what these were. So I did a double check. Were these first or second edition CDs? How do I know?

After the first printing of 1000 CDs, I changed the copyright.

The original copyright was in 2005 on the Jewel Case CDs. The following year, I printed the next edition and changed the copyright to 2006.

But if you're unsure, there's one other thing I did with the 2005 release that I did not do in the 2006 release. The first edition CD also includes the original version of "Harry Potter and the Rising of the Moon".

I didn't include it, or even list it on the CD, because I was unsure about what the Rowling Estate would think about that. I tried to reach out to them. I never heard back.

A couple years later, I learned about the Wizard Rock movement. So I released the song officially on Whiskers in the Jar.

Interestingly, when I printed the CD Jackets, I changed the copyright back to 2005. But I don't remember what edition those CDs were.

All that to say, I am very pleased to sell the last copies of my 1st Edition of Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers.

You can now own one of the final 20 copies of the CD. I'll even autograph it on request.

about

The first of my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers. This cat song is based on the Irish folk song “Wild Rover“. This song tells of cat who is out searching for food, but instead just finds himself with drinking problem. The chorus is incredible fun!

lyrics

Well I’ve been a wild kitty for many’s the year,
And I found a nice pub that serves milk mixed with beer.
This makes me quite happy, so I’ll purr with galore.
Cuz I never will be a wild kitty no more.

And it’s no nay never, (meow, meow, meow, meow)
No nay never no more, (meow, meow)
Will I be a wild kitty. (meow)
No never no more.

It began at an ale house while hunting for fish.
The back door was left open. Some food they’d not miss.
But the landlord he caught me and took me out back,
And said if you’re good I’ll bring milk for to lap.

The landlord came back with some milk from the bar
But he thought it’d be cute to add whiskey from the jar
He layed it before me. I sniffed cautiously.
Then I lapped the milk down and passed out on his knee.

Well the landlord he took me inside to take care
When I woke I refused to drink milk without beer.
So now every night I stumble galore.
I don’t land on feet, but I’m wild no more.
